Director’s Message
Welcome to Armidale Catholic Schools
A Catholic professional learning community committed to improving the faith, learning and wellbeing of our students and staff.
Armidale Catholic Schools comprises 24 schools; 19 primary schools, 2 central K-10 schools and 3 secondary schools. We educate around 6000 students, and employ approximately 1000 staff. As a Catholic School system, we work closely with our Parishes and Parish Priests to further the mission of Jesus. The strength of our Diocese is in our people, both in schools and in the office. We are a learning community that embraces collaboration and finds strength in teams.
Our vision is ‘A Christ-centred inclusive learning community that supports young people to realise a hope-filled future’. Our schools are Christ-centred, focused on the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the Gospels. This is the mission of our Church and in turn, our Catholic schools ‘to spread the Good News of Jesus’.
Our Vision and Mission are underpinned by our Catholic Principles and Values.
Our Catholic Principles and Values are:
These are a clear set of four core Catholic principles and values that are known, understood and articulated by staff so that they can explicitly teach these principles and values and use them to support high quality educational outcomes.
Primacy of God
Love of God and our relationship with God and love of neighbour
Sanctity of Life
The sacredness of the human person ‘made in the image and likeness of God’. This principle also encompasses our call to be stewards of God’s creation caring for our people and our planet.
Fidelity in Relationships
Our relationships with each other, authentic and faith filled
Common Good
Our Catholic Social teaching calls us to work for fair distribution of resources for all so that human dignity can be upheld, to support our most vulnerable in our community so that they too can have a hope filled future.
Living Well Learning Well
Our student support framework expresses the human dignity of each person at it centre through it’s opening statement ‘A universal and unconditional positive regard for children and young people’ and ‘A high regard for the collective capacity of a school staff team to increase faith, learning, wellbeing and life-opportunity outcomes for children and young people’.
We want our community to feel safe, valued, respected and cared for, and be learners. We strongly support and foster our staff to grow as learners and to feel part of a strong professional learning team.
Our Catholic schools in rural and remote areas are vital for both the communities they serve and society as a whole, we truly make a difference in people’s lives.
Welcome once again to Armidale Catholic Schools. I look forward to working with you to improve the faith, learning and wellbeing outcomes for our young people and our communities as all of us work together to ensure literate and numerate students for a hope-filled future.Â
